About Us

We’re Diane and Paul from England.  We’re fifty-something former professionals, Diane in a university, Paul in IT, and we’re currently travelling in India.

A couple of years ago we gave up our jobs to travel the world, something we’d always wanted to do.  The blog is called Doing It Now because we both believe that, all things being equal, there’s no point waiting for a good time to do something you really want to do: it never comes, so do it now if you can.

In this we were influenced by our parents.  In both cases, they worked and then died without enjoying retirement, and in a couple of cases well before it was even in sight.  As Henry David Thoreau put it, we end up spending “the best part of one’s life earning money in order to enjoy a questionable liberty during the least valuable part of it”.  So, we’re doing it now.
